Welcome to Samstel77.com - Sam's Website

June 2006 - Welcome to the spring / summer edition of the Elounda 77 news letter. This season has seen some additions to the villages choice of eateries and drinkeries and sadly a couple of losses. Starting with the losses, if you were planning a stroll to the Canal bar I can save you a walk. This lovely little taverna is no longer open and any one who ever supped a cool beer there after a walk to Kolaketha will agree this is a place we will all miss.
Its ramshackle chic was irreplaceable. On a brighter note one of the oldest buildings and probably the original meeting place for Eloundians "Vritomartes" is looking better than ever after its winter refurb. Fans will pleased to hear you can enjoy the same great food in an even more cosy harbour side setting. We wish the new owners of The Lotus-Eaters all the best for their first season, we are sure it will be a fine addition to Eloundas great choice of restaurants. In the square Libra bar has sadly ceased trading. It will reopen shortly under new management and with a two-storey refitt. As yet we don't know the name but as soon as we know so will you.

Another new bar that has been open since the start of the season is Korfos club. Named after the local football club its bright and airy and well worth a visit. Its business as usual for all your old favourite bars. A few changes in personnel but other wise its pretty much the same in the square. Irish Paul is no longer at Bar Bee. He is now doing his thing in Eden Bar and asks any of his many friends to catch him there any night of the week. Friends has new member of staff. Rene is the new chef. He is especially proud of his home made vinaigrette, so be sure to ask him about it. The Alma travel office has relocated. So any one looking for Mitch can mow find him just a little way out of the square going towards Ag Nik close to the Elounda Princess hotel. Opposite the church you will find a new shop called Anamnisis which means memories in English. They have a large selection of weird and wonderful pieces of art, some traditional and some not so traditional. DJ Sam is now at Oasis 3 nights a week, you can find him there on Mon Wed and Sat. If you want to check on any one or any place or any thing regarding any thing Elundian just post your question on the message board and we are sure some one out there will fill you in.

The new Elounda77 get togethers should be a great way to catch up with all your friends who are on holiday or visiting at the same time. These are series of planned informal nights at different venues around the village. It will hopefully give you a chance to chat face to face with some one you may have met on line at Eluonda 77 or just mingle with like minded fans of your favourite holiday destination. If you're a first time visitor you can come along and find out just what it is that makes people come back to Elounda year after year. So check before you arrive to see if there is an Elounda77 party on when you are in town and make it part of your schedule. The first was held at Friends on the 8th of June and was a really good night with great atmos and some lively partygoers. Sorry about any camera shake in the pictures but excess tequila will do that. Never again till next time. Talking of next time that's about it for this edition. Thanks for reading and keep your comments coming in. If you know of anything going on in Elounda do the right thing and let the rest of us know. Its not that we are nosy, we just like to know. Ade ya.
